There are several good river companies in Hells Canyon, and they all know the awesome Snake River highlights - the powerful rapids, beautiful camps, great fishing, and the scenery of America's deepest river canyon. On our trips, the Hughes Crew (see our Crew page) takes the time to show you the “hard to find” abandoned cabins, mining ruins, American Native cultural sites (pictographs, rock shelters, petroglyphs, pithouses, …), the best fishing holes, a great trail up a tributary stream, or the best swimming hole to beat the heat on a summer afternoon.

| | | | | We know food isn't the reason you book a river trip, but we serve GREAT FOOD and “plenty” of it. The HUGHES CREW takes incredible pride in the preparation, quality, abundance, and presentation of fantastic river meals. Huge ice chests and our big, custom designed gear pontoons allow us to provide fresh meats, fresh fruits & vegetables, and dairy products throughout your trip. Dutch oven baking is an art form, and each evening there will be a 4 to 7 high stack of Dutch ovens filled with scratch breads, main courses, desserts, … For a list of sample menus click on (Meals). We're happy to accommodate special diets. Give us a call.
All camping and whitewater gear is provided including: tents, sleeping pads, freshly laundered sleeping bags & camp pillows, comfortable chairs, dining tables, waterproof duffles, day bags, Pelican waterproof camera/binocular boxes, 1st aid supplies, Coast Guard approved life jackets, Farmer John wetsuits (spring & high water or on request), and helmets for paddle teams and kayakers. Best yet, the HUGHES CREW does the camp work, cooking, and clean up, so you can have time to enjoy Hells Canyon and your trip mates. Mom's can relax with a book, take a hike, chat with family/friends, fly fish … while we take care of the kitchen and camp. Each day the HRE gear boatman and helper float ahead to organize the next evening's camp. When you arrive the tents are pitched, the kitchen is organized, and you can conveniently move in for the night- just another part of “full service” by the HUGHES CREW.
